The brochure quality of Gurdjieffianity’s materials
One of the oddest aspects of the Gurdjieff legacy is the brochure quality of all its materials.
All of its materials on consciousness are abstractions that are never grounded in any particularly practical, a suggestion that Gurdjieff had never really used them, having done something else.
No teaching that was serious about helping people would subsist on such materials.
People would be about the business of, say, meditation. But this never happens.
Clearly Gurdjieff didn’t care, and simply created a front with his beguiling references to a pastiche of ‘ancient teachings’ and left people to muddle through and flounder with a mess of pottage.
Considered idiots who don’t matter, the troops of the movement are given fakes to keep them occupied and living carriers of a front designed for other purposes.
